Memery shoes are generally produced in a regular fit, but a selection of our shoes come in wide versions. 

The wide models are equivalent to two sizes up in width, while the length remains the same, and are based on shoe last EEE. 

Additionally, all of our shoes, except for our vegan options, are made from full-grain leather. Over time, the leather will stretch slightly and conform to the shape of your foot, making them comfortable for wide feet as well.

Memery shoes are designed with both elegance and comfort in mind. Although they are not produced with the intention of being orthopedic shoes, many of our customers with feet or ankle injuries, hallux valgus, bunions, duck feet, or simply those needing extra support, find that memery shoes are comfortable and fit them well. While the soles of our shoes are not removable, it is possible to add your own orthopedic inserts if needed. Many of our customers are accustomed to compromising on style to find a shoe that fits, but with memery, they feel they don’t have to sacrifice looks for comfort.

Our shoes are crafted from original vintage shoes, preserving the original heel height. Most of our shoes feature low or medium heel heights, and many also have wide heels, promoting stability and comfort even after many hours of standing or walking. For the best fit, we recommend measuring your feet according to our size guide, as there are different standards for converting shoe sizes. 

You’ll find the size guide on the product page, directly below where you selected the size. 

Our shoes are made of leather, so over time, they will expand slightly and soften. 

There is a 7mm difference in length between each size, and a 1-2 mm difference in width. 

If your feet measurements are right in between sizes, we usually advise going up a size and then adding a pair of shoe pads to help adjust the size a bit if needed.

Measuring the width of a shoe can be challenging. 

This is both because of the soft leather, but also because width is not only measured across the sole, but also in the circumference of the leather around the sole. 

Our shoes are based on regular width (Shoe last B). We do have a selection of wide style shoes and boots. 

Our wide styles are two sizes up in width, while the length remains the same and are based on shoe last EEE. 

Our wide styles are mainly wider around the toe box, and we often hear from customers with bunions that our wide styles fit them well. You can add a pair of shoe pads to help adjust the size a bit if needed.

If you usually buy wide style shoes, you should do the same here. If not, we recommend going for a regular width.

Our wedge sandals (Norma, Sidse, Ella and Katharine) are based on a regular width. But we often hear from customers with wider feet or bunions that they fit them well, because of their design around the toe box. 

Our sandals are made of leather, so over time, they will expand slightly and soften. 

To find the right size, we recommend measuring your feet according to the size guide on the product page of the sandals.

Can I remove the insole?

Our insoles are glued onto the bottom and cannot be removed. Some of our customers with the need for an orthopaedic insole chose to either go a size up or go for a wide style, and then place their orthopaedic insole on top of the original sole. 

This of course, depends on how big the orthopaedic insoles are. If you go a size up, it will also add 7mm to the length.

If you are between sizes (for example, usually wear 38.5), we always recommend choosing the larger size. Our shoes are made of leather, so they will naturally soften and shape to your feet with wear.

All Memery leather shoes are made from full-grain leather, which is the highest quality leather available. It’s made from the top layer of the hide, making it strong, durable, and breathable. Full-grain leather also develops a beautiful patina over time.

Our suede shoes are made from the underside of cowhide, giving them a soft, velvety feel. Suede is lightweight and comfortable.

Insole is made of sheep skin. 

We only work with trusted tanneries and use high-quality materials to ensure our shoes are long-lasting and made with care.

At Memery, we use leather soles on most of our shoes and boots because they combine timeless style with long-lasting quality.

While rubber soles became popular in the 20th century for their convenience, they’re not repairable and often lead to throwaway shoes. Leather soles offer a more sustainable and elegant alternative.

Caring for leather soles
To keep them in good shape:

• Walk on rough surfaces at first to reduce slipperiness

• Apply leather care regularly (like our mink oil balm)

• Keep them dry and conditioned

We also offer rubber soles for winter boots where extra grip is needed.

Leather Care Guide

To keep your Memery shoes looking beautiful and lasting for years, regular leather care is key. It keeps leather soft, water-resistant, and helps maintain a fresh shine.

Memery Leather Care – Mink Oil Balm
We’ve created our own transparent mink oil balm, suitable for all leather colors. It protects and nourishes both leather uppers and soles. Regular use helps extend the life of your shoes.

How to use:

1. Clean the leather with a soft cloth or brush.

2. Apply a small amount of balm in circles. Include soles.

3. Let it absorb for 30+ minutes.

4. Buff gently for a natural shine.

5. Reapply every few months as needed.

For stains and scratches:

• Oil stains: Dab, apply baking powder, wait 30 mins, brush off.

• Light scratches: Apply balm.

• Deep scratches: Dab with white vinegar, then apply balm.

Note:
Do not use mink oil on suede styles like Esther, Luise, Ida, or Ella.

We have many dancers purchasing our shoes for swing dancing, lindy hop, and other styles, who want shoes in a classic vintage style but with comfort and security for dancing. Most of our shoes are made with original leather soles, which are desirable for many dancers because they allow easy movement on the dance floor. Many of our shoes have low or medium heel heights, providing stability while dancing.

Only our sandals and some of our winter boots have rubber soles. Be sure to check the description for each shoe to confirm the type of sole it has.
